In December 2012, as a key support direction in the field of new materials, "The development of low self-discharge hydrogen storage alloy used in Ni/MH battery" of our company was selected in the second batch Beijing strategic emerging industry incubation base training project by the Beijing Municipal Science & Technology Commission（BMSTC）.

In this project, we optimized hydrogen storage alloy composition by multi-element alloying method, and explored the effects of different elements on the properties of hydrogen storage alloy and the synergy between mutual. Simultaneously, we effectively controlled the heat evaporation of magnesium and the consistency between the alloy composition and organization by using a variety of methods. Eventually we developed a low self -discharge hydrogen storage alloy and its batch preparation process, and solved problems on production equipment, ensured the stability of the product batch production to meet the using requirements of Ni-MH battery. The low self-discharge hydrogen storage alloy was used for negative electrode material of nickel-hydrogen batteries, which can significantly reduce the power losses of Ni-MH battery and store for a long time.

It is learned that the purpose of this project is further enhancing the product technical level, optimizing product structure, strengthening the market competitiveness and brand reputation of our company. The project conformed to the development direction of the national energy saving and environmental protection. The success of the project development will greatly enhance the technological level of China's battery industry, lower product cost, improve product performance, reduce energy waste, and has good benefit for economic and social.
